FREDERICTON – NB Power says it has reached an important safety milestone in the ongoing refurbishment of the Point Lepreau Generating Station.

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission has concluded that the utility’s Emergency Response Team has met its performance requirements.

That means NB Power Nuclear has achieved a satisfactory rating in the area of Emergency Management and Fire Protection Safety and Control.

The nuclear plant is scheduled to return to service in the fall.
