SAINT JOHN, N.B.- Mayor Mel Norton says, even though there are other key issues like clean safe drinking water, the pension situation remains the city’s top priority with regard to it’s financial situation.
Norton and the new members of Common Council were sworn in last night.
Norton says the new political administration has already met with Premier David Alward and his office on two occasions over the past couple of weeks. “For what we hope are going to be some great options and opportunities to deal, first of all, with the current proposed reforms and also to start us on a path to deal with the way benefits for city employees are structured in the future”, says Norton.
Norton also would like to see a re-branding of the city to a place that is undergoing change and rebirth.
