BLACKS HARBOUR, N.B.- Truckers don’t appear too happy with a policy Coastal Transport wants to enforce on the ferry linking Grand Manan to the mainland.
The company that operates the ferry for the province wants truckers to remain on the vessel with their rigs. In the past the vehicles have left unattended for the 90 minute voyage.
Truck drivers have not complied with the policy and Coastal Transport General Manager Greg Ryder tells Global News he respects their opinion. “We’re taking their action as an invitation to get together”, says Ryder. “We’re actually inviting them
to meet with us in Fredericton later this week to hear about their concerns”.
Truckers complain they were given no advance notice of the decision.
