SAINT JOHN, N.B. – The city’s new deputy mayor believes the council needs to be proactive rather than reactive when it comes to the big issues facing Saint John.

New councillors will meet tonight to receive training and discuss the city’s pension plan proposal.

Shelley Rinehart says the pension is front and center with the new council.

“The pension issue is the number one issue facing Saint John. But it’s really indicitive of a larger issue where we really need to establish a plan to go forward for our city.”

The special meeting will be held in the council chambers at 5pm.
