SAINT JOHN – Federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty stopped in Saint John today as part of a day spent in New Brunswick.
Flaherty appeared in studio on The Todd Veinotte Show, talking about what the changes to E-I will mean to seasonal workers in New Brunswick and other parts of Atlantic Canada.
“I realize that there is a seasonal issue with respect to fisheries and forestry and some other occupations,” Flaherty said. “If there isn’t a job in the person’s geographic area that reasonably fits their qualifications, then they’ll receive E-I.
“That’s not changing.”
Flaherty joined Saint John MP Rodney Weston this morning to announce tax credits for volunteer firefighters
He was expected to meet with Premier David Alward during his stay in the province.
