FREDERICTON, N.B.- The race to represent Rothesay in the legislature seems to have its’ first official contender.

New Brunswick NDP Leader Dominic Cardy will run in the Rothesay by-election at the end of the month.

Cardy will contend to win the seat left empty by Progressive Conservative Margaret-Ann Blaney in May.

Cardy notes while the NDP finished a distant third in Rothesay during the last provincial election this time they’re running a different campaign. “We’re running a fully funded campaign”, says Cardy. “The party has really been transformed the last couple of years. We are much more popular than we’ve ever been in history”.

Cardy is expected to make an official announcement later this morning.

Rothesay voters will held to the polls on June 25th.
