FREDERICTON – The head of Elections New Brunswick says two laptops were stolen from the organization’s office in Fredericton, and at least one had sensitive voter information on it.
Chief Electoral Officer Mike Quinn says the computers were swiped after business hours Friday from an adjacent office, where a contractor was creating a new software application for Elections New Brunswick.
He says one computer was password protected and contained sensitive information that was encoded, and required specific log-in information.
Fredericton Police Constable Rick Mooney says a male suspect was captured on video surveillance and police are working to identify him.
A third provincial government laptop was swiped around the same time from Invest NB’s Fredericton office in the HSBC building.
