ROTHESAY, N.B.- NDP Leader Dominic Cardy has picked up some political support heading into the June 25th by-election in Rothesay.
The People’s Alliance of New Brunswick party is throwing it’s support behind Cardy and the NDP for the campaign.
Party leader Kris Austin says the People’s Alliance had potential candidates prepared to let their name stand in the by-election.
“We felt that to run a candidate would just draw votes from each other – us and the NDP – and once again it would serve the interests of the Liberals and Conservatives,” Austin says. “We feel, in the best interests of the people of this province, we are going to back away.”
The Liberals will choose their Rothesay by-election candidate tonight.
The Conservatives have selected Ted Flemming as their candidate.
