Drivers in the province are about to dish out even more for their vehicles.
This fall, the cost for licence plates will almost double.
Starting October 1st, ordinary plates will cost you $50, up from $25.
This move is expected to boost revenues for the licence plate program by $1.83 million.
Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation in Atlantic Canada Kevin Lacey says rising costs are a constant battle. “It seems that everything we do now is costing us a little more and all of it is beginning to add up, ensuring that we have a lot less money in our pocketbook at the end of the day.”
Conservation licence plates will also increase to $57, and the price for a personalized plate will increase to $175.
The last time the annual fee for licence plates increased was on April 1, 2009.
