Members of the New Brunswick Legislature have unanimously passed a motion to name the province’s section of the Trans-Canada highway as the Highway of Heroes.
Conservative member Brian Macdonald says the new name honours the dedication of Canadian veterans, soldiers, police, firefighters and other emergency personnel.
Ontario was the first province to name a section of highway to honour fallen soldiers when it named the stretch between Trenton and Toronto as the Highway of Heroes in 2007.
Members of the Canadian Army veterans motorcycle unit lobbied the government and Opposition to have the highway renamed in New Brunswick as well.
