ROTHESAY, N.B.- Some tough talk is beginning to emerge in the campaign leading into the June 25th byelection in Rothesay.

NDP candidate and party leader Dominic Cardy and Conservative candidate Ted Flemming were guests on The Rick Howe Show.

Cardy says people in the riding are tired of explanations surrounding the controversial appointment of former MLA Margaret Ann Blaney to the C.E.O. post at Efficiency New Brunswick. “There is no explanation except the obvious one”, says Cardy. “That is that Margaret Ann Blaney is a senior Tory and she was given a patronage job by the premier even though he said he wouldn’t do that, that’s it”.

Flemming took aim at both the NDP and Liberal parties. “Mr. Cardy is a parachute candidate”, says Flemming. “He doesn’t know anything about the riding or the people or the issues or anything like that. He’s got one hobby horse, and that’s (Margaret Ann) Blaney. The Liberals…they don’t have a leader, they’re wandering around on a fringe candidate”.

Advance polls for the byelection are being held Saturday and Monday from 10AM to 8PM.
