SAINT JOHN, N.B.- Long term sustainability for Saint John Transit is what city councillor John MacKenzie would like to see in the future.
MacKenzie would like to see city transit add routes to Point Lepreau and the potash mine near Sussex
Mackenzie believes transit has to come up with more revenue generating ideas instead of funding from City Hall.”The need to take the focus off finding more funding to subsidize transit ad try to generate more revenue for transit without raising the cost of fares”, says MacKenzie. “This would in no way hinder or restrain the Commission if they are looking for other ways to improve services in the short term but provide revenue for long term sustainability”.
MacKenzie would also like to meet with the new District Education Council with regard to the new Anglophone South District which will in place in the fall.
