CAP PELE, N.B. – A Prince Edward Island man is dead following a head-on collision this morning near Cap Pele.

District 4 RCMP Sgt. Paul Ouelette says the accident happened at about 10:30 am on Highway 15.

He says a car travelling west crossed the center line and collided with a transport truck.

He says the driver of the car, a 44 year-old Summerside man, was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

The man has not been identified pending notification of family.

There were no other injuries.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

Ouellette says it was not raining hard at the time of the collision.

A minor fuel spill from both vehicles has been cleaned up.

Highway 15 is expected to remain closed for at least the rest of the afternoon for the investigation.

Traffic is being re-routed to Highway 133.
