SAINT JOHN, N.B.- The fire chief in Saint John hopes it’s just a coincidence but he has noticed an increase in the number of fires taking place in the north end.
Last evening’s blaze on Albert Street was the third fire in the north end of the city in less than two weeks.
Kevin Clifford says that doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a connection.” This fire(Albert Street) was an occupied building,. the fire last week was an occupied building so they’re not all vacant buildings”, says Clifford. “It’s just random and hopefully it is just random and we’ll get through this cycle and we’ll have a quiet period”.
Clifford says the department is paying a lot of attention to the north end, adding Fire Prevention is very active in that area of the city.
