MONCTON, NB – It’s going to be  harder to get around in the Maritimes this winter.

Group Orleans Express, the parent company for Acadian Coach Lines is citing mounting losses on unprofitable routes as the reason they must shut down operations in New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia.

They say the service will come to a halt by the end of November.

Glen Carr, with the Amalgamated Transit Union, is upset that the union executive were among the last to know of the company’s announcement.

He blames the service’s demise on a “dysfunctional management team” and says the closure could affect up to 150 jobs.

In May, unionized workers for Acadian Coach Lines in New Brunswick and PEI. ratified a deal to end a lockout that halted bus operations for five months.
