MONCTON, NB – New Brunswick blueberry season is in full swing with harvesting about 10 days ahead of schedule.

Tom Trueman, a commercial berry farmer in the Aulac area says hot, sunny weather has been good for the crop.. but rain is needed to keep the berries from shriveling up.

“The berries haven’t sized up the way we would like to see… so some rain would improve that.  If we get rain in the next few days we won’t have any lasting damage.   We wouldn’t want to go the rest of August without rain that’s for sure.”  says Trueman.

Relief may be on the way with Environment Canada calling for rain in tomorrow’s forecast.
