SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Yesterday’s torrential downpours, courtesy of former Hurricane Isaac…had commuters scrambling to find alternate routes in east and west Saint John.
Parking lots were turned into lakes in the city’s retail sectors, as nearly 108 millimetres of rain fell in the city smashing the old rainfall record of 27.6 millimetres.
Canadian Hurricane Centre forecaster Chris Fogerty says yesterday’s rainstorm will be followed up by Hurricane Leslie early next week.
As for this morning’s commute, portions of Rothesay Avenue are still closed to traffic as well as several streets in Glen Falls
Water pools are still troublesome on Ashburn and Westmoreland Roads as well as on Rothesay Avenue by the overpass.
