SAINT JOHN, N.B.- Tonnes of New Brunswick granite will soon be on display at several communities in Southern Brunswick.

The Sculpture Saint John symposium, featuring six international artists, has been ongoing since early August and will conclude tomorrow with a final reveal on the waterfront.

Event chairperson Diana Alexander says the sculptures will leave a lasting legacy of community and public art. “Our long term goal is to have five symposiums”, says Alexander. “At the end of that we’ll have thirty pieces of public art and as you can see, anybody who has seen it, they are truly monumental pieces of public art. They will be spread between St. Stephen and Sussex”.

The first round of sculptures will be located in Saint John at Lily Lake, U.N.B.S.J., as well as  Rothesay, Quispamsis, Grand Bay-Westfield, and St. George.

Communities are paying ten thousand dollars for the sculptures but Alexander says they are valued at about 150-thousand.
