SAINT JOHN, N.B – $2,000 was raised for cancer research yesterday in Rockwood Park.

75 people took part in the 32nd Annual Terry Fox Run.

Run organizer Nichole Sullivan tells Global News the Terry Fox Run is essential to cancer research in Canada.

“85 cents on every dollar goes towards cancer research, which is an impressive number. The Terry Fox Foundation works to keep as much of the money as they can for it to go directly towards cancer research. They’re very passionate about that.”

The chair of the Saint John run says the event needs to attract more people has the number of participants in the Saint John region has been dwindling for years.

Yesterday, Moncton’s run raise nearly $13,000.
