MIRAMICHI, NB – The trial of an Esgenoopetitj man accused of murdering his 16 year old cousin gets underway this morning in a Miramichi courtroom.
Jury selection for the trial lasted a little under 3 hours yesterday and today, a six -man, six woman jury will begin hearing the crown’s evidence against Curtis Wayne Bonnell.
The 32-year-old stands charged with first degree murder in the death of his cousin Hilary Bonnell.
The Esgenoopetitj teen went missing on September 5th, 2009.
A her body was found two months later in the woods of Tabusintac.
The crown has indicated it will call 45 witnesses during the trial including the victim’s parents Pam Fillier and Boyd Bonnell.
