SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Technology and social media are being used to identify signs of problem gambling issues.

The Know the Score peer-to-peer program has been set up at NBCC Saint John today by the Responsible Gaming Council

K-T-S representative Danielle Ayee says it’s unknown why the typical college age group of 18 to 24 is more likely to have these issues.

“What we do know is that group tends to be risk takers. They’re away from home for the first time, they’re experimenting with different things, they’re legal age so gambling may be one of those things.”

NBCC Saint John is just one of eight stops the program is making across Atlantic Canada.

Its next stop is at the University of Moncton.
