SAINT JOHN, N.B. – The mayor is encouraged following another budget consultation meeting in Saint John.
The largest crowd yet turning out at the Boys and Girls Club for the third in a series of community workshops as part of the City of Saint John’s budget process
Mayor Mel Norton says he is pleased to see so many many turning out for the meetings.
“We had good discussion. Lots of opinions. What we talked about last week was that we hope lots of people would attend and sure enough we do so that’s good news.”
Chris Boudreau says he would ask the questions that are being presented a little differently.
“I’d be more inclined to ask for sharing what the problems are and then what the public thinks are opportunities. It’s a bit of a different approach. I think what they’re doing is saying ‘This is what we have now, how do you feel about it and how would you feel if it was changed?’”
A number of people are saying at the meetings that they would like city services delivered in a different model.
The next meeting is set for Ward 4 tonight at Forest Hills Baptist Church on Mountain Road starting at 6PM.
