GRAND MANAN, N.B.- Ambulance New Brunswick says the system worked as it should have in the case of a heart attack victim on Grand Manan.
Vic Hornjack needed to be transported off the island for treatment and A.N.B. says it was determined the New Brunswick Air Ambulance crew should deal with the situation as opposed to the island based Atlantic Charters.
The Air Ambulance plane was unable to land because of fog and, because the patient improved, he was taken to Saint John via Atlantic Charters.
Hornjack’s wife Sheila says she would like to see further dialogue on the issue of transporting patients off Grand Manan. “I just want something done so we can use the facility we have there as a first option and then look for something else after”, says Hornjack.
Hornjack says her husband’s doctor is amazed at how well he is doing for what he went through.
