SAINT JOHN, N.B. – After a lengthy investigation by Saint John police the Crown now has what they need to pursue charges in the death of Serena Perry.

The 22-year old psychiatric patient was found dead in the amphitheatre of the Saint John Regional in February.

Police Chief Bill Reid says they have had one suspect in mind during the course of the investigation. “At the end of the day it’s about producing tangible evidence that the Crown can look at and say ‘there’s no question in my mind that the individual did what he or she was charged with.”

Reid adds his heart goes out to Perry family, who have been petitioning around the city for increased security at the Regional.

The police chief would not confirm whether or not more security is needed, but says if it is, Horizon Health will be the first to know.
