FREDERICTON – Opposition Liberals in the province say a report on the health effects of the shale gas industry prepared by the province’s chief medical officer of health must be released.

The health department says the report is ready, but will only be released within the government and not to the public.

Liberal health critic Bill Fraser says all the facts need to come out.

“And the premier’s even said about the shale gas file that there’s misinformation out there and people need to make the decision based on the facts,” Fraser says. “Well, how are people going to make a decision based on the facts if all the facts aren’t put out there for the people to see?”

Fraser says that by holding back the report the government is creating speculation and fear for the public.
