SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Walkers at Rockwood Park are surprised to hear of an attack taking place on the trails they use every day.
Shortly after 7 p.m. last night, police say a masked man wielding a knife jumped out of the woods and attacked a female jogger, leading to the park being closed for an hour.
Dianne from Saint John has used the trails in Rockwood Park for 20 years. “Well I never felt safe before. I always prefer to walk with someone else. As a woman I would never walk by myself through the park.”
She advises any walkers to always have their cell phones on them and to be aware of their surroundings.
Police have arrested a 27-year-old male in connection to the attack.
He will be in court today to face charges.
