FREDERICTON, N.B. – New Brunswick’s newest cabinet ministers will be sworn in this afternoon, during a ceremony inside the Fredericton legislature.
Premier David Alward made a major cabinet shuffle last month, which included the unexpected appointment of newly-elected Rothesay MLA Ted Flemming to the health portfolio.
Former liberal cabinet minister Roley MacIntyre will argue anyone who doesn’t believe Flemming is the right person for the job.
“He’s not a rookie. He’s been around for 35-40 years in business. I don’t think you need to have a background in health to be a good administrator so I wish him well.”
Madeleine Dube, who has held the health portfolio for the past two years, will now head the department of social development, moving Sue Stultz to the department of Government Services.
Saint John – Lancaster MLA Dorothy Shephard will move into cabinet for the first time as she takes the reins of the new government department of Healthy and Inclusive Communities.
