FREDERICTON, N.B. – Energy Minister Craig Leonard says he’s satisfied New Brunswick’s gas regulation system is doing it’s job for the most part.

The price of gas has fluctuated greatly over the past couple of weeks, with a 6.6 cent per litre increase last week followed by a 5.5 cent decrease this morning

Leonard says the government may make some minor tweaks to the system but no major changes are expected.

“What we’ve said right from the get go was that weren’t interested in implementing any kind of minimum pricing. We’ll let the market work on that. But at the same time we want the consumer to be protected from  runaway prices.”

Leonard says New Brunswick consistently has one of the lowest gas prices in Atlantic Canada.
