SAINT JOHN, N.B. – A spokesperson for Rockwood Park says a free “personal safety seminar” being held Interpretation Centre at the end of the month has witnessed a recent surge in registration.
Emily Murphy believes she noticed the increase in enrollment after a woman was attack on one of the park’s trails last week.
The park naturalist says the seminar, put on by Saint John police officer Kate Roy, will focus on pre-assaultive cues and how to keep females and their families safe. “Being aware of certain triggers or certain hints and your instinct.”
Nathan Dean, the suspect in the Rockwood Park attack, has pleaded not guilty to assault charges and will appear in court next week for a bail hearing.
Late last month another woman was sexually assaulted at the Irving Nature Park.
