SAINT JOHN, N.B. – A third person charged in connection with an uptown fire that destroyed an historic theatre has been found not criminally responsible for his actions because of mental illness.
The New Brunswick Telegraph Journal reports 19 year old Samuel Nolan was given a conditional discharge on a charge of arson.
The April 25th blaze on Charlotte Street destroyed the old Lyric Theatre and threatened an adjoining rooming house.
Two other people charged in the fire were also recently sentenced. 20 year old Roger Chiasson was handed a 12 month jail sentence and a 15 year old youth was sentenced to two years of supervised probation.
