SAINT JOHN, N.B. – It’s a social issue that has no end in sight.
Today marks the 20th annual International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.
Celeigh Barber-Russell is a community developer with Saint John’s Human Development Council and says the city is experiencing a lot of homelessness.
“Unemployment is sky-rocketing at the moment. There’s problems with youth unemployment and homelessness. There’s a lot of gaps in our community for those in need.”
The province’s human rights officer wants New Brunswickers to use today to figure out how they can tackle poverty in their communities.
