SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Getting out to work after a snow storm may be slower this year in the city with a reduction in snow plows operating in the city due to budget cuts
Kevin Rice, Deputy Commissioner of Municipal Operations for the city says the main routes of the city will be plowed first for emergency vehicles.
“Priority one streets deal mostly with the main routes and their is equipment assigned to those routes and then there are other routes that have priority two, three and four streets that also have equipment assigned to them.”
Rice says there will be three fewer snow plows on city streets this winter and he says a number of the other plows are getting old and need to be replaced.
