(SAINT JOHN) – The New Brunswick government has launched a
review of its correctional services after an error led to the early
release of an inmate last month.
The Department of Public Safety issued a statement Friday saying
the inmate was released Oct. 15 from the Saint John Regional
Correctional Centre.
The inmate was arrested by Saint John police on an unrelated
matter Nov. 4.
Public Safety Minister Robert Trevors said the inmate was
released in error, but he didn’t offer further details.
Trevors says a review of all case files and quality assurance
processes is underway.
