ROTHESAY, N.B.- Provincial cities and towns are trying to work out their budgets for the upcoming year.

The only question is just how much funding will they get  from the province.

Rothesay Mayor Bill Bishop says he  would like the government to explain how they dish out the money so they get a fair share. “There is no formula that can be explained to municipalities”, says Bishop. “All we’re saying is Rothesay should have its fair share, whatever that happens to be”.

Bishop says town residents pay their share of taxes as well. “If you have a 100 thousand dollar home in Bathurst or Campbellton, for example, and a 100 thousand dollar home in Rothesay, you are paying almost double the tax bill out of your pocket”.

The province is expected to have a new plan in place this year when they hand out the 66 million dollars in funding
