SAINT JOHN, N.B.- A Saint John councillor wants local prostitutes to be charged with jaywalking or improper use of city sidewalks in an attempt to get them off the streets.
Susan Fullerton introduced a motion asking police to consider charging prostitutes under local bylaws.
Fullerton says it doesn’t paint the city in a positive light. “I find that in certain areas of the city prostitutes are giving guests to our city and residents perhaps a less livable view of our city”.
Councillor Shirley McAlary doesn’t think prostitution is a major problem here compared to other centres.
Council approved Fullerton’s motion.
