FREDERICTON – The President and CEO of NB Power says ‘so far so good,’ when it comes to the operations at Point Lepreau generating station as it  continues to power up following its refit.

Gaetan Thomas says Lepreau will be able to supply long-term power to NB Power customers into the future.

“Point Lepreau has been running, actually, quite reliably in the last few weeks,” Thomas says. “We’ve been on and off, but it’s all part of the commissioning test to ensure long-term, reliable supply for our New Brunswick customers.”

Thomas says because of Point Lepreau being back on line, NB Power will be able to offer more stable power rates for New Brunswickers.

The station is expected to be fully operational again in a matter of weeks.
