MONCTON, N.B. – A “fine job” is how the man who coached the 2009 Bathurst High School boys championship basketball team, describes a new TV-movie based on the team.
Last night “The Phantoms” took to the small screen for the first time, despite some opposition from the northeastern city.
Alan Doucet, who also assisted on set at the coaching consultant, says coaching the 2009 team was part of his healing process, as well as many others.
“It was process for us and in retrospect it was a healing process for the whole town and we rallied behind that too.”
The movie followed the re-building of the team after the 2008 accident that lead to the deaths of 7 of the players and the coach’s wife.
