SAINT JOHN – Saint John fire crews are gaining control of a structure fire on Westfield Road.

Crews were called to a storage building at around 1:15 p.m.

They found a shed-type building fully engulfed.

The walls on the structure collapsed as the fire burned through the wooden frame.

Fire Chief Kevin Clifford says crews were concerned about propane tanks – at least three of them – that were believed to be stored in the facility.

Bay Street West is closed between Gault Road and the Bay Street Bridge, and will likely remain closed until this evening.

The intersection of Bay Street and Gault Road is also closed.
