MONCTON, NB–On day one of the first degree murder trial of Fred Prosser, the Crown called its first witnesses.

Crown Prosecutor Annie St. Jacques called a friend of Prosser’s to the stand yesterday.

Crystal Doiron told court Prosser said he knew something bad was going to happen and Prosser mentioned he wanted to choke Patterson.

Given his emotional state, Doiron said she was concerned that Prosser might hurt himself and didn’t believe he would hurt Patterson.

Two employees of Dooly’s in Riverview also testified noting that Prosser was a regular at the bar.

Vicky Duguay told the court that Prosser had once mentioned he could kill his ex and get away with it since there are lots of woods near his house.

The trial continues today at the Moncton courthouse.
