SAINT JOHN, N.B. – The public will be updated on the province’s plan to introduce 3T MRI technology in the spring, according to Ted Flemming.
The health minister acknowledges he has has received a report from a MRI advisory committee on the feasibility of bringing 3T MRI machine and technology to New Brunswick.
Until a solid plan is available, Flemming has no problem with the province’s only 3T MRI machine being in a private clinic in Moncton. “It’s New Brunswick, it’s not North Korea. If someone wants to buy a 3T MRI machine and install it, that’s fine. If there’s business for it, that’s private enterprise; have at it.”
The provincial government had announced earlier this year it was going to invest in 1.5 T MRI machines because it could not afford the 3T versions.
