SAINT JOHN,MONCTON N.B.- A mixed bag of weather leads to the first official snow day of the year.

Old man winter is coming to town with 10 to 15 centimetres of snow is expected to fall around southern New Brunswick today.

Meterologist Phil McLaughlin says the winter weather will make for a messy drive home. “During this afternoon temperatures will be climbing, getting on the plus side”, says McLaughlin. “With that we see the snowfall event switching over to rainfall during the afternoon. During that transition there is the risk of freezing rain and that can be kind of messy,of course, certainly on the roadways”.

And students can jump for joy this morning.

The impending weather has cancelled all schools in the Anglophone South and East School Districts as well as in the Francophone South School District.
