With the official arrival of winter still over a week away, Old Man Winter paid an early visit, blanketing the province in white yesterday.
The first snowfall of the season usually makes for a busy day for Police, Fire and Ambulance NB, because drivers tend to forget their winter road skills.
Manager of Safety Promotions and Prevention with Ambulance NB Jean-Marc Dugas says there were many fender benders, but luckily, there were no reports of any accidents involving serious injuries. “When the fall comes along and the first snowfall comes along with it, with slippery roads then it takes a few events before we get our skills back.”
The Moncton region saw eight centimetres of snow, but rising temperatures overnight brought almost 14 millimetres of rain.
Saint John received only two centimetres of snow, and almost 30 millimetres of rain, and saw temperatures climb to over 11 degrees overnight.
