SAINT JOHN, N.B. – While he agrees a lot of work will need to happen before it becomes a reality, David Alward is excited by the increase in support of a oil pipeline, that could bring Alberta oil to the Saint John refinery.

The Premier toured the facility yesterday with Canada’s Natural Resource Minister, Joe Oliver, and Author Irving yesterday.

Alward says a west-east pipeline would be is a great opportunity for Saint John and New Brunswick in general.

“To build outstanding jobs and prosperity so that New Brunswick can have the revenues to reinvest in things like health care, care for our seniors, and education.”

Irving Oil President Mike Ashar says with the energy landscape changing, it’s in Canada’s best interest to have Alberta oil shipped further west and east.

If it’s found to be economically viable, the pipeline could be operational with the next ten years.
