SAINT JOHN, N.B. – A veteran member of Common Council is giving the current council credit for moving the budget process along for 2013.

Ward 1 councillor Bill Farren says the new council is more focused on Saint John as a whole and not preoccupied with personal agendas.

Farren says the 2013 will see more money for recreation and they are awaiting the report from PlanSJ early in the new year.

“We may see some local community fields closed that are being under utilized but we’re going to reinvest that time and money into the ones that we keep open and keep in better shape.”

Council sits in special session this afternoon with the 2013 budget and shared-risk pension model expected to be discussed.
