SAINT JOHN, N.B.- The Christmas Card Project in back in Saint John this year in an attempt to reduce the incidents of domestic violence in the city.

The initiative features police sending cards and following up with phone calls to families deemed at-risk.

Police Chief Bill Reid says people deal with stressful situations in different ways. “There are some folks where their coping skills aren’t there to deal with stress”, says Reid. “Whether it’s financial, whether it’s addictions or whatever the case may be we want to be there for those folks particularly at this vulnerable time for them…and we will be”.

The project was picked up in Saint John last year after getting its start in New Zealand.
