SAINT JOHN, N.B.- A long time defenceman with the Saint John Sea Dogs is on his way to a new team.
The club has announced 20 year old rearguard Kevin Gagne has been traded to the Rimouski Oceanic in exchange for Rimouski’s 1st and 6th round picks in the 2013 QMJHL entry draft along with Cape Breton’s 2014 4th round pick from the Oceanic.
The Sea Dogs also send a 6th round selection to Rimouski as part of the deal.
Dogs Head Coach and General Manager Mike Kelly was glowing in his praise of the native of Edmunston, N.B..“Kevin Gagné has not only been an outstanding player, competitor and leader for the organization for the past four and a half years, the example he provided defines how a young man should handle himself through the struggles of establishing himself as player for the Saint John Sea Dogs as well as through the good times of winning championships,” said Kelly in a news release.
Saint John selected Gagne 32nd overall in the second round of the 2008 entry draft.
