FREDERICTON, N.B.- The situation in the U.S. regarding the so-called fiscal cliff is not lost on New Brunswick Premier David Alward.

President Barack Obama and lawmakers are trying to head off across-the-board tax increases and budget cuts which are due to go into effect in a few days.

In a year-end interview Alward says New Brunswick is watching the situation south of the border very closely. “My hope and prayers actually are that they are able to find a solution to go forward together because it’s certainly something that is beyond our control but could have very significant impacts”, says Alward

Alward says it’s important for government to be very prudent in getting expenditures under control and efficient in the way it spends taxpayers dollars.
