(Saint John)-The opening of the new Saint John Law Courts building at Peel Plaza will be delayed.
Department of Justice and Attorney General spokesman Dave MacLean said today an issue arose with the heating equipment during the overnight hours of Sunday night.
”The malfunction caused a few pipes to burst, which led to water damage in the building,”
Officials were able to secure the former courtroom facilities located at City Hall, Charlotte St. and Sydney St. on a temporary basis.
The contractor is working with its insurance company to evaluate the damage.

cronkite…the mayor had nothing to do with the province choosing to build a justice complex on that location. im glad you think you are “in the know” but you have just made yourself look foolish
@dj – Peel Plaza is where the Provincial Courthouse relocated. It has EVERYTHING to do with Ivan Court.
PS – Your ignorance is showing……
are you 2 out of your mind? this is the PROVINCIAL courthouse…has nothing to do with the city or the previous mayor
I work in a building that this contractor built three years ago, heating system always broken, leaky roof, mould on the windows and poor ventilation. The excuse will be that it was and is a design error but that does not help the people who have to work in these places. Good luck to employees and again a big thanks goes out to our last mayor for the white elephant. Happy New Year all!!!
Just couldn`t leave well enough alone could they. The powers that be just had to have that multimillion dollar white elephant sitting up there on the hill. Saint John will never amount to squat with all the small minds around there that have run the city into the ground.
Well, good luck trying to pay for the mess you`ve created. You`re going to need it.
