MONCTON, NB – New Brunswick Liberals chose a new leader in 2012.

Moncton lawyer Brian Gallant defeated Mike Murphy and Nick Duivenvoorden in October to lead the party.

In a year-end interview with McLean in the Morning, Gallant says he felt he had a good chance as the campaign came to an end.

“Throughout the leadership race, I think that my message of trying to change the political culture, growing the economy, investing in knowledge through education and training was really resonating with New Brunswickers and Liberals alike, so I told myself I had a good shot.”

From an early age, Gallant says he wanted to make a difference and felt that politics could be a good vehicle to do that.
