MIRAMICHI, NB–Health and workplace safety officials are investigating a possible case of carbon monoxide poisoning at a
fabrication plant in eastern New Brunswick.
Over 35 employees at Sunny Corner Enterprises in Miramichi were taken to hospital.
Miramichi Police Sergeant Dana Hicks says they received a medical call yesterday morning after one of the employees passed out, and others complained of nausea and headaches.
All but one of the employees have been released. One person was kept in hospital overnight for observation.
Company Spokesperson Terry Nowlan suspects a heating system might be linked to carbon monoxide exposure although emergency officials smelled a strong odour and carbon monoxide is odourless.
Worksafe NB is investigating the incident.
